LTE Advanced, standardized by the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) as a major enhancement of the Long Term Evolution (LTE) standard meets or perhaps surpasses the ITU requirements of 4G. It overhauls the LTE PHY and MAC layers with new modifications, including 8×8 MIMO, carrier aggregation, relay nodes and other procedural improvements. Additional architectural enhancements include the home eNodeB, heterogeneous networks (Hetnets) and self-organizing network (SON). This course also addresses Release 11 features including coordinated multipoint transmission and reception (CoMP).

Prerequisites: Participants should have attended the LTE System Survey course or have equivalent knowledge of LTE.
