UMT-LTE marketed as 4G LTE, is a global mobile wireless standard developed by 3GPP, which represents the next evolutionary leap of GSM/UMTS networks. LTE radio platform allows operators to achieve higher data speeds as well as network capacity, accompanied by a significant network cost reductions. It is non-disruptive since it allows for the seamless integration with GSM/UMTS networks as well as non-3GPP networks. LTE adopts a host of new radio techniques such as OFDMA, MIMO and connects to an all IP core network. This course, based on 3GPP Release 8 and 9, provides participants with a survey of all the key technological enhancements that make up the LTE standard- encompassing business economics, market considerations, air interface, backhaul considerations, evolved packet core, QoS and end-to-end signaling.
