As fiber optic cables becomes standard for data transmission by telcos, carriers and utilities are increasingly deploying more high-speed SDH (synchronous digital network) technologies to support their access, junction and trunk transport infrastructure. This course builds on the SDH Principles and dwells into advanced topics pertaining to path/repeater/multiplex section alarms, different types of protection switching, pointer actions, network management, and alarm management. It provides details of PDH to SDH mapping, SDH multiplexing to achieve higher speeds and clock synchronization.
